Bergdahl Scandal Highlights Right Wing Hate

The Bowe Bergdahl "scandal" isn't what you are seeing on FOX News. The scandal may very well end up being how the right is willing to say anything for the single purpose of making President Obama look bad, how they are willing to lie to us, to make up things to be shocked by, how they can't seem to stop long enough to take a deep breath and look at facts. The right wing has lost its mind. When did America decide it was a good idea to start electing people who have no critical-thinking skills, who have hate in their hearts, and who think nothing of taking the rights of Americans away just to satisfy their sick need to control women and gay people? The Tea Party is a national shame. And the sad thing is that it originally spoke out about things that many of us could relate to.

Further, if you care to check it out, you can easily find that Bergdahl had left the base on previous occasions, and had returned to base. His superiors knew it. It is in official reports. He can not be called a deserter without additional facts to support such a charge, based on Military Code. The worst charge Bergdahl can currently be answerable for is Article 86: Absent Without Leave. (Article 85: Desertion, specifies that requisite intent to not return is an element of the crime of desertion, and since he'd left base before and returned, that element is NOT satisfied.) And calls from the right that Bergdahl be executed for desertion are ridiculous. Only ONE military man has EVER been executed as a deserter in the past 140 years (since the Civil War), Private Eddie Slovik.

Bergdahl may turn out to have been a bad apple, or not. BUT THE LEVEL OF VITRIOL BEING SPEWED RIGHT NOW IS NOT SUPPORTED BY FACTS. When the story broke, remember how it was a wonderful thing to be getting our boy back? Even Fox News thought it was a wonderful thing. Within a day and a half, things changed, it seems. HOW DO YOU KNOW THINGS AREN'T GOING TO CHANGE AGAIN? Let the facts come out before talking about executing a military man, please, for the love of all that is good and holy.
